IU’s Second Language Studies (SLS) is dedicated to scholarship on the structure, acquisition, and use of nonnative language in both instructed and contact contexts. Graduate students can pursue a Master of Arts (M.A.) in SLS or TESOL, a Ph.D., Ph.D. minor, or certificate. Learn about ELIP Intensive English Program (IEP) The instructional Intensive English Program (IEP) is designed to help non-native English speakers increase their English language skills. The curriculum is designed for students at all levels of English language proficiency, with an emphasis on developing the necessary oral and written skills for academic studies and business or professional communication.
